アニエスベー ギャラリー ブティックは、５月10日(水)から5月28日(日)まで、フランス人アーティストのジョルダン・サジェによる個展「センヲエガク」を開催します。
アニエスベーでは定期的にアーティストを日本に招待し、展示やパフォーマンスの機会を提供する取り組みを行っています。ジョルダン・サジェは、2020年の春夏コレクションでアニエスベーとコラボレーションしていますが、来日は今回が初めてとなります。
本展は、今回のために制作した直径2m以上のキャンバス作品２点と、過去のアーカイブ写真および映像作品、ライブパフォーマンスで制作する作品群で構成されます。また、来日後、青山、渋谷、豊島、瀬戸田でのパフォーマンスの実施も予定しています。
2015年の春、サジェは公道、店舗のファサード、地下鉄の壁面などに、幾重にも交差する3本の線を描き始めます。建築装飾のアラベスク模様のような謎めいた曲線は、チョークという儚いマチエールが用いられ、描いた者の存在を示す署名もなく突如街角に出現します。都市空間に描かれる多くのストリートアートが、その意図に関心を示されることも、十分な議論がなされることもなく、犯罪行為という理由のもと第三者の介入により削除もしくは撤去されます。瞬間を捉えるサジェが描く線は、排除の決定を待つまでもなく、居合わせた人々の記憶と、デジタルコンテンツの記録だけに痕跡を残し消え去ります。公共物を破壊し、誰かを不快にするような行為は望まないと考えるサジェのテンポラリーな現実空間の利用と、SNSという現実空間の外で発信されるイメージの拡散は、ストリートアートが都市と共存するひとつのあり方も示しています。

agnès b. galerie boutique is pleased to present “センヲエガク Senwoegaku,” a solo exhibition by French artist Jordane Saget from May 10th (Wed) to May 28th (Sun).
agnès b. regularly invites artists to Japan in an effort to provide opportunities for exhibitions and performances. Jordane Saget has collaborated with agnès b. for the Spring/Summer 2020 collection, but this will be his first visit to Japan.
The exhibition will consist of two round canvases over 2 meters in diameter created especially for this exhibition, some archive photography and video works, and a group of pieces created through a live performance. After his visit to Japan, Jordane also plans to give performances in Aoyama, Shibuya, Teshima, and Setoda.
In the spring of 2015, Jordane began drawing three lines that intersect in layers on public streets, store facades, and subway walls. These enigmatic curves, which resemble arabesques in architectural ornamentation, are created with the ephemeral material of chalk and suddenly appear on street corners without any signature to indicate the presence of the artist. Many street art in urban spaces are removed or taken down by the intervention of third parties on the grounds of criminal activity, regardless of the intention behind it or even with meanings that are not controversial. The lines drawn by Jordane, who captures the moment, gradually disappear, leaving traces only in the memories of those who were present and in the digital records. Jordane’s temporary use of real space and the images transmitted outside of that real space (like social media), can show how street art can coexist with the city.
