アニエスベーは東京・青山のアニエスベー ギャラリー ブティックにて7月27日(土)から9月29日(日)まで、『誰がマイクロプラスチックを食べているの?』展を開催します。
プラスチックの大量生産が始まった70年前から現在に至るまで、海に流れ出たプラスチックごみのほとんどは、その行方が未だに解明されていません。しかし、腐らない特性をもつこれらのプラスチックは、半永久的に地球上のどこかに存在し続けると考えられています。そして、海にある一次マイクロプラスチック(製造段階から5ミリメートル以下のサイズのプラスチック)のうち、約35%がマイクロファイバーと言われており、アパレル産業も大きな責任を負っています。
アニエスベーの創設者であるアニエス・トゥルブレは、2003年にフランス初の海洋に特化した公益財団法人、タラ オセアン財団を設立しました。財団は、海洋の生態系に関する科学研究の進歩を牽引し、気候変動リスクの予測や理解、生物多様性の保護を可能にする革新的な海洋科学を発展させています。さらに日本では、一般社団法人タラ オセアン ジャパンを2016年に設立しました。2020年には、日本沿岸のマイクロプラスチック汚染に焦点を当てたプロジェクト、Tara JAMBIOマイクロプラスチック共同調査をスタートさせました。
本展では、Tara JAMBIOによる3年にわたる調査で採取されたマイクロプラスチックのデータを展示します。また、昨年からアニエスベージャパンがタラ オセアン ジャパンおよびパートナー企業と共同で実施しているビーチクリーン活動を通じて、普段は見えない、または見えないふりをされてきた、そして本当に見えなくなってしまったプラスチックごみの存在を可視化し、海洋プラスチック問題について考察します。マイクロプラスチックが海洋生物や人間の体に与える影響についての研究は、世界中でまだ進行中ですが、手遅れになる前に行動を起こす「予防原則」の視点から、来場者の皆さまにもそれぞれの考えを共有いただければ幸いです。

アニエスベー渋谷店3Fのカフェでは、9月11日(水)から10月8日(火)まで、『Sailor’s eyes：タラ号クルーの視点』を開催します。本展では、タラ号に乗船したクルーたちが独自の視点で撮影した写真が展示されます。これらの貴重な記録写真は、過去20年間にわたる世界の主要な海洋での探査航程を写し取ったもので、その航海の足跡を辿りながら、共に海洋を守ることを考えるひとときを提供します。
また、9月21日(土)から10月8日(火)まで、子どもたちが海洋環境をテーマに描いた『タラ号ポスターコンクール 2024 受賞作品展示』も同時開催しますので、ぜひ併せてお楽しみください

Agnès b. will hold an exhibition titled “Who Eats Microplastics?” at the agnès b. galerie boutique in Aoyama, Tokyo, from Saturday, 27th July to Sunday, 29th September.
From 70 years ago, when the mass production of plastic began, to the present day, most of the plastic waste that has entered the ocean remains unaccounted for. However, due to their non-biodegradable nature, these plastics are believed to persist somewhere on Earth almost indefinitely. Of the primary microplastics (plastics measuring 5mm or less from the manufacturing stage) in the ocean, about 35% are microfibres, placing significant responsibility on the apparel industry.
Agnès Troublé, the founder of agnès b., established France’s first non-profit organisation dedicated to the ocean, Tara Océan Foundation in 2003. The foundation advances scientific research on marine ecosystems, enabling the prediction and understanding of climate change risks, and the protection of biodiversity through innovative marine science. Additionally, in 2016, Tara Océan Japan, a general incorporated association, was established. In 2020, the Tara JAMBIO Microplastic Joint Research Project, focusing on microplastic pollution along the Japanese coast, was launched.
This exhibition will showcase data on microplastics collected over 3 years by Tara JAMBIO. Furthermore, through beach clean-up activities conducted jointly by agnès b. Japan, Tara Océan Japan, and partner companies since last year, the exhibition will visualise the often invisible or ignored, and now truly invisible plastic waste, prompting reflection on the marine plastic problem. While research on the impact of microplastics on marine life and the human body is still ongoing worldwide, we hope that visitors will share their thoughts from the perspective of the “precautionary principle,” taking action before it is too late.

At the café on the 3rd floor of the agnès b. Shibuya store, from Wednesday, 11th September to Tuesday, 8th October, the exhibition ‘Sailor’s eyes: The Perspective of the Tara Crews’ will be held. This exhibition features photographs taken by the crews of the Tara from their unique perspectives. These invaluable documentary photographs capture the exploration journeys of the world’s major oceans over the past 20 years, offering a moment to reflect on the footprints of these voyages and think together about protecting the oceans.
Additionally, from Saturday, 21st September to Tuesday, 8th October, the ‘Tara Poster Contest 2024 Winning Works Exhibition’, featuring children’s artwork on the theme of the marine environment, will be held simultaneously. We invite you to enjoy both exhibitions.
